John Brim: A Legacy of Service and Strength

John Brim was a World War II veteran, having served as a Seabee in the Pacific Theater. He bravely unloaded ships—often under Japanese sniper fire—and played a crucial role in building airstrips on Guadalcanal, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima.

After the war, John became a legend in the concrete industry. He founded Brim Concrete in 1948 in Flora, Indiana, starting with a humble 2.5-yard concrete mixer. Back then, cement was purchased by the bag and manually loaded by the mixer driver. In 1962, Brim Concrete expanded with a second plant in Monticello, Indiana.

Though John “technically” retired at 90 years old, he was still spotted running a loader at 95!

Today, Brim Concrete is proudly operated by his children, Bradly Brim and Kristen Sullivan, and his granddaughter Summer Sullivan continuing the family legacy.
